Study Scope

Abstract:

Description:
Combining Spitzer/MIPS maps at 70 and 160 microns with IRAS maps at 60 and 100 microns we have produced high-resolution column density and temperature maps of Perseus. The emission maps at 60 and 70 microns are statistically corrected for emission from Very Small Grains (VSG's), and the dust emissivity is seen to increase in colder and denser regions within the molecular cloud. The resolution of the map is 40", set by the resolution of the Spitzer 160 micron map. < /p>
Telescope Information
Spitzer Space Telescope

Status:
Final

Sampling:
Wavebands: 70 and 160 microns
Resolution: 40 arcseconds

Areal Coverage:
Roughly 8 square degrees

Map Center (J2000):
RA = 03:35:00
Dec = 31:00:00
