Abstract: |

We present here the replication dataset used to generate results for the manuscript titled "Non-O ABO blood group genotypes differ in their associations with Plasmodium falciparum rosetting and severe malaria".

The dataset included here comprise of clinical, epidemiological and multiple host genotype (including ABO blood group) data from a cases control study (n = 1403 cases and n = 3929 controls) and longitudinal cohort study (n = 242) of children recruited as part of the Kilifi Health and Demographic Surveillance System (KHDSS) used to look at associations between ABO genotypes and severe malaria or uncomplicated malaria/asymptomatic infection respectively. Also included are data from in vitro experiments on a range of putative P. falciparum virulence phenotypes including P. falciparum rosetting and endothelial cell cytoadhesion generated using human red blood cell samples collected during routine cross-section surveys as part of the Kilifi longitudinal cohort study to used to look at variations in these parasite phenotypes by ABO genotype.
|
