Abstract:

This is a replication dataset for the manuscript titled: “Characterizing Plasmodium falciparum genetic diversity and complexity of infections in clinical malaria infections in Western and Coastal Kenya using the poly-alpha microsatellite marker.”

Poly-alpha microsatellite marker was genotyped from the isolates by PCR, fragment sizes determined by capillary electrophoresis and fragment data analyzed, per sample, using the GeneMarker software. The data shared comprises of fragment sizes from both the major and minor genotypes, per isolate, that were used to determine polyclonality. Only the major genotype was used to determine the expected heterozygosity (He). The parasitemia and age information for each isolate, where applicable, are also provided.
