Abstract:

This data is part of study on the experiences of app-based drivers in the Seattle, WA area. Focus groups were held in-person in Seattle-area public libraries. Each focus group lasted an hour, and the discussion was structured around three broad topics: the financial and emotional impacts of deactivation, drivers’ experiences working with TNCs and the Drivers Union in deactivation disputes, and how these experiences influence drivers’ views of gig work. The focus groups were recorded, transcribed and manually anonymized by two members of the research team. Anonymized data includes focus group transcripts and the questionnaire used to guide focus groups.
