Abstract:

GMIE-100 uses the WGS84 coordinate system, longitude, and latitude projection (EPSG:4326). The file format of GMIE-100 is GeoTIFF. The GMIE-100 for irrigation proportion is represented as a single-band image. The pixel value of the GMIE-100 corresponds to the irrigation proportion of the respective spatial grid, with a range of 0-1 and a background value of -99. The data was produced using dry months in the 2017–2019 period for regions that need regular irrigation and the driest months in 2010–2019 for regions that need irrigation occasionally. There are 67 tiles globally with a maximum extent of 21°×21° if most overlapped with land, otherwise, the extents are adjusted according to the terrestrial range. The file is GMIE-100-*log*_*lat*.tif, where *lat* and *log* represent the rounding of the latitude and longitude of a central point. The domain of tiles can be found in the file “tiles of GMIE-100.shp”.The GCPIS was stored in shapefiles formats in zip files.

Notes:

The spatial resolution of GMIE-100 was 100 m, which is higher than that of the dominant irrigation map, thus providing more detailed irrigation information for supporting agricultural water use estimation and regional food security assessment.
