Abstract:

In this research note, we provide documentation of how we used research findings from a maternal vaccine hesitancy study to develop a community play to address concerns and issues on maternal vaccines in a rural setting of Kilifi County, Kenya. Although prior studies have used theatre to address issues around mental health, HIV, and patient journeys through cancer diagnosis and treatment, there are limited examples of the use of community play to address the growing concern of vaccine hesitancy. We show that community play has the potential to improve knowledge of the importance of maternal vaccines.
