Unknown No Longer (UNL) was the first Virginia online searchable database to make available biographical details of enslaved Virginians from the manuscript collections of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Launched in 2011, the project enabled researchers to discover information on ancestors not found in other sources. Beginning in 2019, UNL was made available through the Library of Virginia’s Virginia Untold: The African American Narrative collection, providing users with access to an expanded offering of resources for researching African American history in Virginia.
