Abstract:

Users can search for model practices and initiatives that counties have implemented to prevent childhood obesity. Topics include: nutritious diets, physical activity, built environments, and social environments. <p><b>Background</b></p> The Healthy Communities Database is maintained by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The Healthy Communities Database is a model practice database that includes practices and initiatives which counties have implemented to prevent childhood obesity. Topics include: nutritious diets, physical activity, built environments, and social environments. <p><b>User Functionality</b></p> Users can search for model practices by state, county size (i.e., small, medium, large), issue areas, practice type (i.e., initiative, policy, program), or keyword. Information includes a summary of the model practice, county-specific information, as well as contact information for the model practice. <p><b>Data Notes</b></p> This database began in June, 2008.
