Abstract:

This archive includes all scripts used for generating the empirical information and visualizations in:

Rauh, C. and Parízek, M. (2024) ‘Converging on Europe? The European Union in mediatized debates during the COVID-19 and Ukraine shocks’, Journal of European Public Policy

Note that we unfortunately cannot publicly share the raw text data of the individual news articles for copyright and licensing reasons. But the replication archive provides all numerical and aggregated data as well as the detailed code by which they were produced from the orginal source data extracted from GLOWIN.

All scripts were run in R version 4.3.2 (“Eye Holes”) on a x86_64-w64-mingw32/x64 (64-bit) platform. Additional packages used, including their version numbers and sources, are marked along the library calls on top of each individual script.

The scripts are numbered such that they reproduce the empirical information roughly in the order as presented in the manuscript (pointers to respective figure numbers, relevant appendices etc. are in the script comments). The ‘Data’ folder contains all input data except the raw texts as well as all intermediary, aggregate numerical outputs. The ‘Plots’ and ‘Tables’ folders contain the produced output as presented in the final manuscript and the respective appendices.

For inquires regarding the manuscript and the analyses please contact Christian Rauh. For inquiries regarding the underlying GLOWIN text data infrastructure please contact Michal Parizek.
