Abstract: |
This submission includes publicly available data extracted in its original form.
Welcome to the one-stop shop for NEI-based data, organized by Inventory Year. Some inventory years do not include all of our data products. For example, the full National Emissions Inventory (NEI), which covers all data categories (point, nonpoint, onroad, and nonroad) is currently done on a triennial basis, and the latest release is 2020. However, for modeling purposes, a 2022 platform was created, for which some of the latest 2022 data was incorporated. [Quote from https://www.epa.gov/air-emissions-inventories/get-air-emissions-data-0]
If you have questions about the NEI source data, please contact Marc Houyoux (houyoux.marc@epa.gov) and Rich Mason (mason.rich@epa.gov). If you have questions about this metadata entry please contact CAFE (climatecafe@bu.edu) |

The NEI database includes air emissions sources of both criteria of both criteria and hazardous air pollutants. Data are available for many facilities and as county totals. The 2014 NEI is the next inventory on the three-year cycle and the EPA will create it using data provided by State, Local and Tribal air agencies. The Emissions Inventory System (EIS) helps the EPA to build the NEI. |

Text: |
The 2017 NEI, last released in April 2020, has been updated to include a revised point inventory that corrects airport emissions and incorporates updates to some facilities in several states. All other data category components of the 2017 NEI are unchanged from the April 2020 release: nonpoint (including biogenics, commercial marine vessels, and rail line emissions), onroad mobile, nonroad mobile, and events (wildfires and prescribed burning emissions). All 2017 NEI data products impacted by changes to the point inventory have been updated, including point inventory summaries, All Sectors, and Tier summaries, as well as the associated data query tools. An accompanying interactive 2017 NEI Report is also being released with this update. This is the final public release of the 2017 NEI. |

Folder containing all of the National Emissions Inventory (NEI) files for 2020. The 2020 NEI includes air emissions sources of criteria air pollutants/precursors (CAPs), hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), and some greenhouse gas (GHGs) data. These data are available for many facilities nationwide, and on a countywide total basis. |
