Abstract:

<p>Understanding the lives of adolescents and young adults (UDAYA) is a longitudinal study of adolescent boys and girls in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, India. UDAYA survey data sets contain information on adolescents aged 10–19 at wave 1 and aged 13–22 at wave 2 and the households to which they belonged. Five categories of adolescents were included in the sample: cohort of unmarried adolescent girls and boys aged 10–14 at wave 1 and aged 13–17 at wave 2; 15–19 at wave 1 and aged 18–22 at wave 2; and cohort of married girls aged 15–19 at wave 1 and 18–22 at wave 2 aged 10-19. Dataset contains completed interviews of 16,292 adolescents and young adults. </P>

Methodology and Processing

Sampling Procedure:

Statewide sample drawn using a multistage, stratified, systematic random sampling procedure; sampled separately for urban and rural sampling domains.

Type of Research Instrument:

Face-to-face interview questionnaire using computer assisted personnel interviewing technique including numeracy and literacy assessment and ability to do daily tasks and common calculations. Biomarker measurement was included to assess malnutrition.
