Description
| The way healthcare facilities are managed influences their service delivery and performance. Existing evidence from other LMICs show that facility management capacity influences the availability of essential medicine and equipment and the quality of care. There is a scarcity of studies assessing the management capacity of healthcare facilities in Kenya. Such findings would be important in guiding interventions targeted at improving leadership and management capacity of healthcare facilities and in extension, improving service delivery and performance for the achievement of UHC and health system goals. As such, the aim of our study was to assess the levels and determinants of management capacity of healthcare facilities in Kenya. This dataset is a health facility assessment (HFA) of 427 health facilities across 15 counties in Kenya. The HFA questionnaire was uploaded to Redcap in tablets issued to trained research assistants. The research assistants administered the questionnaire across the selected facilities. The data includes an assessment of facility characteristics such as facility type, level, location, ownership, catchment population and NHIF contracting among others. It also includes an assessment of five management domains of management capacity and the different variables that influenced this management capacity. |
