Notes
| For the U.S. data: 1) Download the data from its source here: https://www.unl.edu/polphyslab/data (Minnesota Twins Political Survey Dataset) 2) Convert the data from SPSS to Stata format using the R script "convert SPSS to Stata.R" 3) Open the data in Stata and clean using "US data cleaning.do" 4) For descriptive statistics, the paper tables, and supplemental tables S1-S3, run "Tables 1-3 and S1-S3" in Stata. For the US twin models reported in the text and in full in supplemental tables S4-S10, run the analyses in R using the twin scripts marked "US" (the main analyses are in the univariate, bivariate, and trivariate files; the Protestant and Catholic files are supplemental analyses only). The twin scripts require specific R packages (a particular version of OpenMx running in a compatible version of R), as described in the header. For the Australian data: 1) The Australian data (file named EG1EG2_RELIG.dta) is only available by data sharing agreement with Peter Hatemi and the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. To access the data, contact him at phatemi@gmail.com 2) Open the data in Stata and clean using "Australia data cleaning.do". 3) For descriptive statistics, the paper tables, and supplemental tables S1-S3, run "Tables 1-3 and S1-S3" in Stata.
