Thirty-two Long Evans rats (16 females) received paired or unpaired presentations of 10-s cue illumination and foot shock: 0.35 mA (16 subjects), or 0.50 mA (16 subjects). Fear conditioning took place over a baseline of reward seeking. TTL-triggered, GigE cameras were programmed to capture 25 behavior frames before and 50 frames during cue light illumination, and 13 frames following cue light off. 22,272 frames (256 trials) were captured during the second fear conditioning session and the extinction session. This data set consists of 256 PowerPoint files and 256 excel files, corresponding to the 256 single trials. Each PowerPoint is a sequence of 87 jpegs captured before (1-25) and during (26-75), and following (76-87) cue presentation for that trial. Every PowerPoint file has a corresponding Excel file. Both file types are named by subject_session_trial. 02_03_04 = rat #2, session #3, trial #4. Session 2 is the fear conditioning session with foot shock. Session 3 is the extinction session. Each Excel file is a string of 87 observations, corresponding exactly to the 87 PowerPoint frames. Additional files included in the MetaData section. ‘Subject information’ provides the following information for each subject: weight on each testing day, sex, group (paired vs. unpaired), shock intensity, box #, and start time. ‘Behavior definitions’ defines each behavior quantified. Each matlab file contains the name of the program used, the subject information, and time stamps for: reward delivery, nose poke, frame capture, and light cue illumination onset. Matlab files corresponding to the PowerPoints and Excels are light_paired02 and light_403. (2025-01-02)
