We have had a major input in evaluating the effectiveness and wider impact of the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV10) in Kenya, including studies of the effect on carriage, invasive disease, burden of pneumonia and pathogen structure. We are expanding our platform of surveillance to incorporate assessments of the safety of EPI vaccines, direct and indirect effects of rotavirus vaccination, and studies of the non-specific effects of vaccination. We will examine the epidemiology of invasive salmonella infection and salmonella carriage in children and adults, and participate in the clinical development of a whole cell pneumococcal vaccine which is serotype independent.

Etyang, A.O., 2018, "Replication Data for: Blood Pressure and Arterial Stiffness in Kenyan Adolescents With α+Thalassemia", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/0GTMAN, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:/3s3KxvPr1NGrcI7F55NcA== [fileUNF]
Background recent studies have discovered that a_globin is expressed in blood vessel walls where it plays a role in regulating vascular tone. We tested the hypothesis that blood pressure (BP) might differ between normal individuals and those with alpha thalassemia, in whom the production of alpha globin is reduced. The related study - Shinikizo la...

Kazungu, Jacob S.; Adetifa, Ifedayo, 2017, "Replication Data for: Crude childhood vaccination coverage in West Africa: trends and predictors of completeness", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/YQYES9, Harvard Dataverse, V2
Africa currently has the lowest childhood vaccination coverage worldwide. If the full benefits of childhood vaccination programmes are to be enjoyed in sub-Saharan Africa, all countries need to improve on delivery of vaccines to achieve and sustain high coverage. In this paper, we reviewed trends in vaccination coverage, dropouts rates and explored...
