Araújo, Victor, 2025, "Replication Data for: Does the growth of religious minorities transform electoral politics? Evidence from the evangelical boom in Brazil", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/AN44BQ, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:VwwYWJ+KeEw4ohvLLOf/ng== [fileUNF]
Christian evangelicals now represent a significant share of the global population. Notably, they are expected to soon outnumber Roman Catholics in several low- and middle-income countries. This paper examines whether such episodes of religious minority growth can reshape electoral politics. To address this, I combine novel data spanning over two de...

Kostelka, Filip; Linek, Lukáš; Rovný, Jan; Škvrňák, Michael, 2025, "Replication Data for: Electoral Participation and Satisfaction with Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/GTHIBR, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:D3B4Kpv04GG6qSXD84dXxA== [fileUNF]
Does democratic satisfaction drive voter turnout, or does voting increase satisfaction with democracy? This paper explores the satisfaction-participation nexus in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), where democratic dissatisfaction is prominent. It tests pre-registered hypotheses using a five-wave panel survey from the Czech 2023 presidential electio...

Yin, Weiwen, 2025, "Replication Data for: Foreign Faith and Rising State: An Examination of State-Building Dynamics in Late 16th Century Japan", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/M9CRUY, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:5/pHhyOBB2MGGf/Wi9uPSA== [fileUNF]
How does a ruler implement state-building at the local level? This paper examines state-building in late 16th century Japan by focusing on Toyotomi Hideyoshi's land surveys, which were crucial for establishing a centralized regime. We argue that Hideyoshi strengthened control over the locality via land surveys as a strategic response to the perceiv...

Van Hauwaert, Steven; Wlezien, Christopher; Carlin, Ryan, 2025, "Replication Data for: What Moves (Spending) Mood? The Nature and Origins of Parallel Public Preferences", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/N3RKRZ, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:aMbX+cwNoqoKgdkJ9/F9Bg== [fileUNF]
Existing studies suggest issue preferences move together – in parallel – over time. Although the existence of a “mood” is increasingly clear in various countries, the determinants of such parallel movement remain unexplained. We identify four mechanisms: (1) parallel movement in preferred policy levels across domains; (2) parallel movement in actua...

Oceno, Marzia, 2025, "How Social Desirability Bias Impacts the Expression of Emotions", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/0GCD1H, Harvard Dataverse, V2, UNF:6:yyZUXAG+F2MAAufi4hgLFg== [fileUNF]
Emotions and their impact on socio-political behavior have received increasing scholarly attention. However, it remains largely unclear whether and to what extent emotional expression within surveys is subject to social desirability bias, similarly to a broad range of self-reported sensitive attitudes and behaviors. By drawing on impression managem...

Abramson, Scott; Thrower, Sharece, 2025, "The Direct Cost to Voters of Polling Site Closures and Consolidation", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/MCM0AX, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:82nai3KBid7996HTMpxXhg== [fileUNF]
Restrictive voting laws are an increasingly salient and contested feature of American politics. Yet estimating their unbiased and direct impact on voter turnout is challenging, given the strategic and often simultaneous actions of political actors who can both impose and mitigate the costs of these laws. Using individual-level data from Davidson Co...

Lieberman, Evan; Bollen, Paige, 2025, "Replication Data for The Value of Dignity Appeals: Evidence from a Social Media Experiment", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/U4JCHB, Harvard Dataverse, V1
In recent decades, activists and leaders of government and non-government organizations have increasingly and explicitly called for greater attention to human dignity in their efforts to promote pro-social relations. In this study, we investigate whether appeals to this core human value actually influence how individuals act with regard to those wh...

Cox, Loreto; Cubillos, Pedro; Le Foulon, Carmen, 2025, "Replication Data for: "Affective Polarization and Democratic Erosion: Evidence from a Context of Weak Partisanship"", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/EA4TCN, Harvard Dataverse, V1
Can the "us versus them" dynamic in politics undermine support for democracy even in the absence of strong party identification? While much is known about affective polarization in the U.S., its impact on democratic commitment in other contexts remains understudied. We examine Chile’s 2022 plebiscite, where voters decided whether to approve or reje...

Bird, Robert; Peress, Michael, 2025, "Estimating the Persuasive Effects of Advertising in Presidential Primary Elections", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/CINN60, Harvard Dataverse, V1
Presidential primary elections arguably represent the most dynamic campaigns in American politics. Television advertising is a key aspect of strategy that candidates can marshal throughout the campaign. We develop a methodology for measuring the impact of advertising in primary elections that accounts for endogeneity and apply it to the 2000 throug...

Falcó-Gimeno, Albert; Muñoz, Jordi; Pannico, Roberto, 2025, "Replication Data for: Voters rally around the incumbent in the aftermath of terrorist attacks: Evidence from multiple unexpected events during surveys", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/4I6QO4, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:Lci+XFUFuWOo5CJEekqSvQ== [fileUNF]
Research on the political consequences of terrorism often finds a rally around the flag effect: terrorist attacks, as other types of threats, tend to produce spikes in popularity and support for the incumbent, as citizens turn to those in power seeking protection. Most research, however, is based on single case studies that analyze very salient att...
