The UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Galactic Plane Survey (UKIDSS-GPS) is a near infrared survey which will map over 1800 square degrees of the Galactic plane in J,H,K bands (1-3 μm) to a depth of 19 magnitudes. It is a successor to the 2MASS survey, probing 3 magnitudes deeper. The GPS plans to map half the plane over the following regions: 141° < l < 230°, −5° < b < 5°; 15° < l < 107°, −5° < b < 5°; −2° < l < 15°, −2° < b < 2°. The angular resolution of the GPS survey is 0.8”, more than a factor of two better than both GLIMPSE and 2MASS. The link to the homepage of the GPS survey can be found here.
