This sub-collection includes a listing and corresponding descriptions of datasets published in the DesignSafe Data Depot Repository (DDR). The repository preserves and provides access to a variety of datasets gathered during experiments, simulations, field reconnaissance missions, surveys, and other research methods and activities that study the impact of natural hazards on people and structures.

Currently, we include field research datasets containing engineering, social science, and interdisciplinary data gathered during pre and post disaster reconnaissance missions to sites hit by disasters, varied survey instruments, and survey and interview data.

The DDR is the open-access data repository component of the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI), and is supported by the National Science Foundation. Since 2022 DDR is a Core Trust Seal Certified Data Repository.

The Searles Valley Basin consists of a large endorheic dry lake which contains sediments such as Borax and rock salt, which formed around the late quaternary period. This lakebed exhibited surface manifestation of liquefaction in the form of sand boils in different areas around the lake, following the Ridgecrest Earthquake sequence (RES) on July 4-...

Villarreal, Melissa, 2023, "Part 3: Planning Documents for Semi-Structured Interviews with Mexican Immigrant Women in Documenting the Undocumented: How Mexican Immigrant Women Navigate Long-Term Post-Disaster Housing Recovery and Cumulative Disaster Impacts", https://doi.org/10.17603/DS2-5BM1-Y393, Designsafe-CI
Disasters are increasing in frequency and intensity. Much of the current disaster literature adopts a social vulnerability perspective, which considers how political, social, and economic factors influence pre-disaster preparation and post-disaster recovery. Even with this focus, however, there remains a dearth of literature on immigrant population...
