The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT

Today’s global challenges of poverty, malnutrition, climate change, land degradation, and biodiversity loss call for new research, solutions, innovations, and stronger partnerships that can deliver higher impact. To respond to these challenges, and building on their complementary mandates and long collaboration, Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) have joined forces to create an Alliance.

The Alliance delivers research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives.

To do so, the Alliance works with local, national and multinational partners across Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Africa, and with the public and private sectors. With partners, the Alliance generates evidence and mainstreams innovations in large-scale programmes to create food systems and landscapes that sustain the planet, drive prosperity and nourish people.

This dataset contains 438 crop cycles for upland rice in 22 departments of Nicaragua that were collected with INTA (Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria) in the period 2016 – 2020. In the dataset, 100 and 338 records came from technological validation areas and community banks of seeds, respectively. Each location was georeferenced. Variab...

This dataset contains the final product of an agroecological zone classification for Nicaragua. The classification was created using data layers from worldclim, soilgrid and INETER (Instituto Nicaragüense de Estudios Territoriales). The unsupervised method used was k-means and its inputs were variables obtained from a dimensionality reduction achie...

A panel of fully genotyped 400 wheat lines derived from genebank accessions in two managed fields in the Ethiopian highlands in 2012 and 2013 were evaluated. We collected phenotypic data and farmer evaluation data in this trial. For the decentralized trial, we distributed a subset of 41 genotypes as packaged sets containing incomplete blocks of thr...
