The Observatory of Labor Strikes (OHL) is an initiative of the Centre for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies (COES) and the Department of Management and Business of the Alberto Hurtado University (UAH).

The OHL's main objective is to periodically record labor strikes in the country, continuing with the work done by Professor Alberto Armstrong between 1979 and 2010. The OHL added new variables to those registered by Professor Armstrong and perfected the methodology for collecting information in order to contribute to a better characterization of the labor conflict in Chile. The base is unique in the country as it includes information on extralegal strikes in the private sector, strikes in the public sector, trade union strategies, police intervention, among other data that have not been systematically registered by state agencies or other agencies. . For this reason, it represents a unique opportunity for research on labor conflict and for social actors interested in the dynamics of labor relations in Chile.
