The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT

Today’s global challenges of poverty, malnutrition, climate change, land degradation, and biodiversity loss call for new research, solutions, innovations, and stronger partnerships that can deliver higher impact. To respond to these challenges, and building on their complementary mandates and long collaboration, Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) have joined forces to create an Alliance.

The Alliance delivers research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives.

To do so, the Alliance works with local, national and multinational partners across Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Africa, and with the public and private sectors. With partners, the Alliance generates evidence and mainstreams innovations in large-scale programmes to create food systems and landscapes that sustain the planet, drive prosperity and nourish people.

Ruiz-Hurtado, Andres Felipe; Camelo-Munevar, Rodrigo Andres; Arrechea-Castillo, Darwin Alexis; Jauregui, Rosa Noemi; Cardoso Arango, Juan Andres, 2025, "Dataset: Forage grasses in crop fields from ultra-high spatial resolution UAV-based imagery", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/DBGUFW, Harvard Dataverse, V1
This dataset contains orthomosaics and individual Regions of Interest (ROIs) of forage grasses in crop fields from experimental trials of CIAT’s tropical forages breeding program; and annotations in Common Objects in Context (COCO) format derived from that data. The ROIs were manually annotated on UAV imagery and exported in common objects in conte...

Camelo Munevar, Rodrigo Andres; Cardoso Arango, Juan Andres; Jauregui, Rosa Noemi; Espitia Buitrago, Paula Andrea; Mazabel Parra, Lady Johanna, 2024, "Near-Infrared Spectroscopy and Wet Chemistry Dataset for Forage Nutritional Quality Assessment in Urochloa humidicola", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/XPNIQY, Harvard Dataverse, V3, UNF:6:6nNxExBTq2TOHSSzwqMApA== [fileUNF]
Attributes such as the nutritional quality of pastures are characteristics that can be used to select better pastures and thus obtain a greater amount of meat and milk from livestock feed. However, the laboratory analytical method by which it is calculated is not cost effective in trials with a large number of plants, so developing methods that all...

Cardoso Arango, Juan Andres; Mayorga Cobos, Mildred Julieth, 2025, "Dataset on Effect of clonal integration on drought and waterlogging response in Urochloa humidicola", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/66P5MD, Harvard Dataverse, V1, UNF:6:h+vzg5lskY098k7RDmXPUQ== [fileUNF]
Clonal integration enables the translocation of resources such as water, nutrients, and photosynthates among individual subunits of clonal plants, facilitating adaptation to diverse environmental conditions, including drought and waterlogging. Urochloa humidicola CIAT 679 (cv. Tully) exhibits strong adaptation to these abiotic stresses and propagat...

Sentinel cassava plants were exposed to high disease pressure in the field to promote root symptom expression. After visual inspection, symptomatic plants were propagated in a screenhouse for a second growth cycle. Molecular analyses, including RT-PCR and HTS, were conducted to identify associated pathogens and investigate their link to cassava fro...

The purpose for creating these indicators is to perform a similarity analysis of the climatic conditions (heat, drougth and waterlogging stresses) of a specific location versus the climatic conditions where the accessions of the different crops available in Genesys were collected, within the Analogues tool. The above considers climate change scenar...
